What Tooth Bonding Means
While our office can assist in a variety of dental procedures to enhance your smile and provide for your overall oral health, we understand that not every cosmetic issue is in need of a full and complete cosmetic makeover. Because of this, we offer specific and simple procedures to address cosmetic concerns, no matter how large or how small.
Tooth bonding is an option that works for some cosmetic situations. Tooth bonding is the process in which a dentist applies an enamel-like dental composite to a tooth’s surface in order to repair cracked, chipped, or even decayed areas while providing a seamless and realistic appearance. The composite is shade-matched to neighboring teeth and applied as needed to smooth out jagged or sharp areas, and fix any blemishes. The composite is then shaped to mimic the natural appearance and curves of the tooth’s surface. After that process is complete, the bonded tooth is hardened. Conveniently, all of this can be done in just one office visit.
While the idea of a complete smile makeover may seem pricey and daunting, that doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. If clients find that they only need to repair a broken or chipped tooth, we recommend the process of tooth bonding and contouring. What Tooth Contouring Means
Contouring a tooth can repair some of the same issues as bonding, but instead of adding material, the contouring process gently shapes away excess tooth areas, to smooth out nicks or reshape overlapping tooth areas.
