We at Defining Smiles have compiled our frequently asked questions below to assist you.

Q: What sets you apart from other dental practices?

A: We prioritize our patients’ being comfortable with the doctor, staff and office. We offer personalized care that makes your visit to our office unique and pleasant.

Another difference that sets our office apart from others is in our scheduling. Most dental practices double book and sometimes triple book to maximize patient intake. Respecting the importance of your time, we only schedule one patient for a specified time slot, allowing you the dentist’s full undivided attention. This scheduling allows you to know that your appointment is your personal reserved time and belongs to no one else.

Additionally, the doctor performs most procedures himself and is actively involved in procedures delegated to auxiliary personnel. This allows for a high level of quality and expertise in our dental work. Because of our patient-first scheduling and active doctor participation, we believe you will see the difference upon your first visit.

Q: Do you accept referrals?

A: We welcome referrals of family and friends. Our goal is that this office become one that you feel comfortable recommending to family and friends. Our office has grown over the years through the kind words of our patients, and it is our pleasure to build close relationships and provide quality dentistry to those referred to us.

Q: My teeth are not as white as I would prefer. What are my options?

A: Whether it is for an upcoming wedding, speaking engagement, or just wanting a more youthful appearance, the color of your teeth can be lightened effectively and safely with our in-office teeth whitening procedures. The American Dental Association states the best place to start teeth whitening is at the dental office so that the dentist can diagnose the cause of the discoloration, evaluate possible side effects before whitening begins, and can choose the most effective method of whitening.

Our in-office whitening can be done in a single visit. Zoom Quick Pro bleaching uses a special gel that is placed on the teeth, and within minutes instantly brightens your smile. In-office whitening is more effective if followed up with take-home whitening trays.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

A: As a courtesy to our patients, we will file your insurance for any work done in our office. We do accept most traditional and PPO insurance. We do not accept DMO coverage insurance. What you will notice is that our name is not listed in any insurance book as a provider, which is because we have not signed a contract with the insurance company, as that may restrict the type of treatment we may do. Your insurance is a contract between you, your employer and the insurance company. By not being a party to this contract or its restrictions, this allows us to have a relationship with you, our patient, and not the insurance company.

Q: What payment options do you provide?

A: We are committed to the success of your treatment, and bill payment is considered part of that. Payment is due at the time of the service unless other arrangements have been made in advance with our office. We accept cash, personal checks, American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa. Additionally, we offer three- and six-month interest-free payments with the Care Credit card. With your Care Credit card, you can also finance your treatment for up to five years.

Q: How long should my dental work last?

A: Our goal is to provide you with the highest quality of dental care and satisfaction. We will stand behind the following treatment(s) from our office for a period of one year from the date of the service, provided that the following is met:

You must maintain your regular 3-, 4- or 6-month check-ups as recommended by our professional team. By doing so, we are able to detect any new or recurring cavities in their earliest stages. We are also able to detect fractures on tooth structure or restorative materials before the fracture gets too large. Finally, we are able to maintain the foundation (gums and bones) of your mouth to ensure longevity of your natural teeth as well as with our dental work**

Crowns
If the porcelain chips, fractures or breaks we will repair or replace the crown for you at no cost to you.

Implants
All restorative aspects of an implant, such as abutments or crowns, that are placed by our office are covered. Any procedure associated with an implant that has not been done by our office that results in the failure of an implant (i.e. surgical placement) are not covered.

Fillings
If any chip or fracture occurs, we will repair or replace the filling at no cost to you.

** We understand that scheduling conflicts sometimes arise when making your 3-, 4- or 6-month check-up appointment. This agreement will be null and void if you do not come in as scheduled for your check-up appointment, or if your check-up appointment varies by more than four weeks from the scheduled 3-, 4- or 6-month due date. Due dates for 3-, 4- or 6-month appointments are determined by the dentist and dental hygienist at your previous check-up appointment.
